About Us

Sum of Change Productions LLC (SOC) is a film and media production company based out of Washington, DC, dedicated to socially, politically, and culturally conscious material. SOC is owned and operated by Mitch Malasky and Will Urquhart. We aim to capture stories and messages that are important to all Americans that may be underreported or incorrectly reported by the mainstream media. There are still many inequities in the world, and often times debates about the most important issues get lost in trivial, insignificant arguments. We hope our content can help people to focus on issues of importance to all of us and improve the world that we all share.

As a principle, we do not make claims of "fair and balanced," or "just the facts" since we believe there is no such thing as an unbiased media- all reporting is going to be subjective in some manner. We strive to be as accurate as possible, but recognize that we have inherent progressive leanings, which undoubtedly will affect our work. Mainstream media outlets express their opinions just as blatantly as we do, but hide behind a claim of objectivity. At Sum of Change, our news team prides itself on being as honest and objective as possible without hiding from our natural subjectivity.

We work on a variety of fronts to attain these lofty goals. Through our destination site, www.SumofChange.com, we report and cover events important to everyone in Washington and around the world. No matter the event, from town halls to conferences, from protests to direct political actions, we aim to bring you the most interesting and relevant material you will not hear about anywhere else. Our video production team develops and creates non-fiction videos for SumofChange.com as well as short to feature length independent documentaries. In addition to our video team, we have a full time new media team who designs and builds original websites and actively participates in various social networking sites such as, facebook, twitter, blogs, youtube, digg, stumbleupon, reddit and more.

Everything we do for SumofChange.com, we can do for you too! No matter how big or small, we are available to do some, part, or all of the work for your next project, or help you do it yourself!
